Shady Park, C.A.S.A. Owner Donates Nearly $100,000 To Local Charities

Year after year, Scott Price, the owner of downtown Tempe music and restaurant venues like Shady Park and C.A.S.A., steps up in a major way to support his community, its residents and Valley charities.

Price, a veteran Navy SEAL officer and entrepreneur, feeds the city’s homeless each week from a building adjacent to Shady Park, located along University Drive. And each time Arizona State University plays a home football game, Price stages a tailgate party at Shady Park’s Mill Avenue sister venue, C.A.S.A.. The beneficiary annually: The United Phoenix Fire Fighter Charities, which includes charitable efforts in Tempe.

This year’s donation? $96,563.11.

Last year, Price made a similar donation to the charities. The funds were used by the Tempe Firefighters for everything from building a wheelchair ramp for a resident identified during a 911 emergency call to helping the Tempe Impacts Education foundation fund its Beans and Rice program, which feeds nearly 2,000 families a year.

The money also funds the Tempe Firefighters’ annual Target Christmas gift, which helps more than a hundred families do holiday shopping for their children each year. “We are proud to work with United Phoenix Firefighters Charities, and we are extremely grateful to our patrons for helping us raise over $96K this year through our CASA Block Parties!” said the venue in a January 18th Facebook post. “Thank you to all of you who have been a part of this.”
